Olive + Asymmetrical
While on tour I discovered my new favorite store: Dry Goods. I first heard about DG from my cousin Angela and shortly after stumbled into one at Southdale Mall and was like, "YEEEEEESSSSS". I'm super bummed that they don't have any in Nashville (the same way I was bummed about not having a Madewell until I found out Green Hills is opening one in September...YAY!!) because their sale prices are super accessible. As in, I scored this faux leather skirt for $9 FREAKIN' DOLLARS. That's right. I have Chloe to thank because she found it for me on the clearance rack and it just happened to be my size...fate! :)
The best thing about this skirt is its asymmetrical shape. Unlike typical mini skirts, you don't have to be self conscious when sitting down because of the way the fabric falls. Since the skirt has a lot going on (zippers, geometric angles) I decided to pair it with a [seemingly] plain olive top. What you can't see are the wispy hankerchief tails I tucked into the skirt. It's pretty unique. I'll feature it in an upcoming post so you can see for yourself :)
I'm not much of a purse carrier (as in, I own one purse from Express that I got in high school) so I stole this Coach crossbody bag from my mom's closet. I'm pretty sure she's had this purse since I was a toddler, which just goes to show how a simple, classic, well-made bag really can be a worthwhile investment (though knowing my mom, she likely got it on clearance)!
This outfit is perfect for going shopping if you dress it down with a pair of flats. I wore it with my black Birks the other day, and trust me—skirts are so much easier in the dressing room than trying to take tight skinny jeans on and off. This could also be a fun look for a concert or night out on the town.
On our way home from the shoot Chloe and I stopped into Hey Rooster General Store, an adorable little shop nestled quietly on Gallatin Ave in East Nashville. I discovered them on Instagram and was happily surprised to find they are literally within walking distance of our home! I love discovering little gems in this city, and we quite enjoyed browsing cards, admiring jewelry and smelling candles. It's the perfect place to find a handmade gift.
Have a fabulous Wednesday!
