It's the end of summer! Noooooo!!!! I'm really torn about this, guys. It feels like only yesterday I was snuggling under fleece blankets in Portland, kicking myself for not bringing a sweater on tour. That was May. Where has the time gone??
On one hand, I'm excited for fall. Excited to the point that I'm ordering hot chai tea at Frothy Monkey and mentally planning cute hat/boot/scarf combos. I love everything about fall: the crisp air, baking glorious pies in every flavor (apple, blackberry...SALIVATING AS I TYPE THIS), the changing leaves crunching under your feet, cozying up by a bonfire...the list goes on. Just the other day I was greeted by a cheery cluster of pumpkins at the grocery store, after which I made a mental note to visit a pumpkin patch (bonus points if it's combined with an apple orchard).
On the other hand, I will miss summer terribly! Summer with its clear blue skies, nights beneath the stars, where every day is an excuse to eat ice cream. Summer is youth and life and possibilities. It's also the season of high waisted shorts and crop tops, which is why I made a point to capture this outfit before the chill sets in. This past spring I became infatuated with retro styles (I apologize to those of you who had to endure my vintage pinning spree) and the way fashion can transport you to an entirely different era. I began experimenting with pin curls (here's photo proof) and daydreaming about what it would be like to attend one of Gatsby's parties. I was captivated by the idea of creating classy ensembles that remain timeless through the ages. But my luck I'll look back and laugh at what a dork-o doofus I was (am). YOLO, right?
