Redheads Can Wear Red
I'm not really sure who made up the stupid rule that "redheads can't wear red". Because it's not true. Just google redheads wearing red and assess the images for yourself. Now, redheads wearing pink? Ehh...that's a whole other story. I'm not going to argue that (though Emma Stone pulls it off pretty well).
I love my red hair, I love wearing red lipstick, and red is a vibrant, bold color that I'm not willing to remove from my wardrobe just because of some silly outdated rule. Rules were made to be broken! MWAHAHAHAHA!
I can't take full credit for this jacket because Chloe was the one who found it. We were Christmas shopping for our mom and wanted to style a couple fabulous outfits for her to wear. I suggested we stop at Local Honey (my favorite vintage store in Nashville) for unique, one-of-a-kind finds. Nestled in a quaint house on Belmont Boulevard, Local Honey thrifts meticulously, abiding by the mantra that "just because it's vintage doesn't mean it's cute". Translation: you won't be rummaging for hours to find a gem. I'm hesitant to rave too much because the quality of a thrift shop depends on its relative obscurity.
After only a few minutes of browsing, Chloe plucked the jacket from an overhead rack. "What do you think?" I spun around, eyeing the piece.
"It's...amazing," I exclaimed, examining the gold buttons and velvet detailing. "Nice work, Chlo! Have you tried it on?" She shook her head 'no' so I quickly shimmied it over my shoulders.
"A little short in the arms," she examined. I nodded.
"But I have unusually long arms. So it'll probably fit mom perfectly," I remarked thoughtfully.
"You think she'll like it?" Chloe asked. "It may be a little...'out there' for her." I wondered the same thing.
"Yeah...the thought crossed my mind. But she's the queen of style. She wore hammer pants back in the day! So this should be nothing." Chloe agreed. For the record, she loved it (and has worn it several times! We've also stolen it several times...shhh).
In other news, our T-shirt Kickstarter campaign ends tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11:59 PM CST, so if you want to pre-order our shirt, hurry before it's too late! http://kck.st/LqebL8
Chloe and I are headed to Birmingham this week for a show (Thursday, February 20th at Moonlight on the Mountain @ 7pm) so we'll be toting our camera around and hopefully snap some fun pics.
As you may have noticed, we switched our blog over to this new domain. So from now on, all blogging will be posted HERE at chasinglovelyblog.com. Be sure to subscribe via email to stay in the loop!
Hope Monday hasn't got you down! :-)

p.s. I saw Winter's Tale this past weekend ($5.50 Super Bargain matinee at Carmike Bellevue 8) and quite enjoyed it. Chloe hated it, with some merit. The storyline was a bit disorganized, but if you like cheesy romance movies and cinematically gorgeous films (costumes, scenery, Collin Farrell...) then you'll probably dig it despite the slightly discombobulated whimsy.
